Elders are chosen by the congregation to discern and measure its fidelity to the Word of God. Together with the Pastor they are to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation through their leadership and service. Elders service faithfully and exercise leadership with the committees of the church. Elders serve as a member of Session and Board of Trustees, both being the governing bodies of the church.

The ministry of a deacon, as set forth in the scripture, is one of compassion, witness, and service. It is the deacons that set an example for sharing the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress.
